Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) is a private non-profit University located in the serene and beautiful city of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state. ABUAD was established in 2009 by the Nigeria’s Eminent and Highly Decorated Lawyer, Farmer, Economist, Philanthropist, Educationist, Reformer, Trailblazer, Transformational Leader and Recipient of African Man of the Year for Food Security in 2014 and the prestigious Chief Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership, - Aare Emmanuel Afe Babalola OFR, CON, SAN, FNIALS, FCIArb, LL.D, D.Lit and LL.D of London University. Since its establishment, the University has won several national and international awards and recognition as a reference point, benchmark and the fastest growing university in Nigeria, and as an internationally engaged world-class university. ABUAD has also been recognized by the United Nations through two UNESCO Chairs: The UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurship Education and Sustainable Development and the UNESCO Chair in Peace and Citizenship.
ABUAD’s World Class Centres of Excellence provide the requisite support for transformational and innovative teaching and research. The ABUAD Multi–System Hospital is a world-class 400-bed teaching hospital which provides the required support for health research, training and community outreach programs at ABUAD. In addition to having a Helipad that allows easy airlifting for emergency situations, the hospital is home to diverse state-of-the-art diagnostic and medical equipment and services and has become a major referral centre for different hospitals on the continent. The University is strongly dedicated to herbal medicine and drug discovery research with the hub of its research activities domiciled at the ABUAD Institute for Drug Research and Development (The S.E. Bogoro Research Centre) while multiple research equipment are located at the new College of Pharmacy building complex. ABUAD’s Industrial Park for the production of pharmaceuticals including intravenous infusions is also at an advanced stage of development. The College of Pharmacy ABUAD was established in 2019 as a college specifically dedicated to promoting quality education in pharmacy and pharmaceutical research as well as evolving research-based solutions and products to meet the needs of the society. The College awards the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, a programme that is housed in a purpose-built building complex fitted with lecture halls, laboratories and production unit with state-of-the-art training and research facilities. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Professor
A candidate for this post should normally possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field with not less than eleven (11) years of teaching and research experience in a University. A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in area of expertise and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years.
Associate Professor (Reader)
A candidate for this post should normally possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience in a University. A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students. Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three (3) years.
Senior Lecturer
A candidate for this post should normally possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field with not less than six (6) years of teaching and research experience in a University. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required, in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in area of expertise. Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience.
Lecturer I
A candidate for this post should normally possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a doctorate degree in the relevant fields from a recognised University or Fellowship of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in area of expertise.
Lecturer II
A candidate for this post should normally possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a Masters degree in the relevant fields or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a recognised University. Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence. Such candidate must show readiness to acquire the relevant academic degree(s) at the shortest possible time.
Technologist I
A candidate for this post should possess Higher National Diploma (HND) in Science Laboratory Technology and other relevant areas. Candidate must also have at least 5 years working experience with evidence of practical skills and competenceTechnologist II
A candidate for this post should possess Higher National Diploma (HND) in Science Laboratory Technology and other relevant areas. One to two years working experience is an added advantage.
SALARY
Salary and other conditions of service are similar to what obtains in the Nigerian University System.
