As part of the golden jubilee anniversary of the Institute of African Studies of the University of Ibadan, the foremost and erudite lawyer and founder of the best and fastest growing private University in Nigeria, Aare Afe Babalola will be honoured with the Distinguished Personality Award of the institution.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Isaac Albert who made the announcement while briefing newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo State said the honour is to show gratitude to the visionary lawyer and great philanthropist for his contributions to the development of the Institute.

Prof. Albert further explained that the award ceremony which holds next month would show-case African culture and tradition during the occasion.

In his remark, the anniversary Coordinator, Dr. O. I. Pogoson said the ceremony will enable the Institute to show to the rest of the world that Africa is not a dark continent but a place where human civilization took its root.

Other eminent personalities to be honoured at the occasion are Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, his Niger State Counterpart, Babangida Aliyu, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Prof. Kwabena Nketia of the University of Legon, Ghana.
