mrs_olarindeSmaranda Olarinde (Associate Professor) is the Acting Provost of College of Law.

She obtained the Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluz-Nepoca Romania in 1979. In 1983 she was called to the Nigerian Bar and enrolled as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She practised law briefly before opting, in January 1984, for teaching and research at the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan.

She is a Fellow of Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan and member of many professional and interdisciplinary research bodies such as: Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch; Nigerian Association of Law Teachers; International Federation of Women Lawyers, (Oyo State); Institute of Advanced Medical Research and Training, University College Hospital, Ibadan; Women's Documentation and Research Centre, Ibadan etc.

In the twenty-three years that Mrs. Olarinde has been teaching and supervising many students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, she has become an effective and thorough teacher and an expert in Family Law, Children and Women's Rights.

She is an erudite scholar and consistent researcher who also served as consultant for many international and national organizations.

She carried out several multidisciplinary researches on reproductive rights, Women and Children's rights, HIV/AIDS and participated in the collaborative effort between researchers from Israel, the Netherlands and Nigeria.

She has held several administrative and leadership position within and outside University of Ibadan.

Smaranda Olarinde is a Nigerian and Romanian citizen.
