Executive Director, OGEES Institute (ABUAD) Speaks at the 2nd Annual East Africa Oil and Gas Summit in Kenya

A Senior Lecturer from the College of Law Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti and at the same time, the Executive Director OGEES Institute of Nigeria, Patrick Tolani, will be among the scholars and intellectuals who will map out the developments, strategies and opportunities in the Oil and Gas Sector of Eastern Africa.

The workshop that will come up between 18th and 19th April, 2013, at the Safari Park Hotel & Casino, Nairobi, Kenya, will be featuring top-level speakers, investors and government officials across African.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Burundi, Hon. Come Manirazika; Barry Faure, Secretary to State in the Office of the President, Seychelles; Abiye Henderson Membere, Managing Director, Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC); Mr. Velonarivo Pascal, General Manager of Hydrocarbons, Ministere des Hydrocarbures of Madagascar and Summayya Hassan Athmani, Managing Director, National Oil Corporation of Kenya, are among those that will be making presentations at the summit.

 

Patrick Tolani  is expected to make a presentation on “Legal and Institutional Pre-requisites for Sustainable Oil and Gas investments in Africa’’. The topic will feature:

  • Legal and institutional frameworks for attracting and retaining investors.
  • The need to remove some potential legal barriers to investments.
  • Developing laws that can balance environmental goals with social economic goals.
  • Establishing relevant monitoring agencies to ensure that investors play by the rules.

 

Mr. Patrick Tolani will use the opportunity to also outline the relevance of the OGEES Institute and the impact that Afe Babalola University is making in Nigeria.
