The Senate of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) at its 125th meeting of 2nd December 2021, considered the recommendations of the Faculty Board of Family Medicine on the report of its Accreditation Visitation Panel concerning the programme and facilities of ABUAD Multisystem Hospital for training Residents in Family Medicine.

The Visitation Panel members were marvelled at the state-of-the-art and cutting edge facilities at the ABUAD Multisystem Hospital which can never be found in any Teaching Hospital in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. All of these facilities and more are provided only by the Founder and Funder of Afe Babalola University, Ado - Ekiti; Aare Afe Babalola SAN. This is in a bid to reduce to the barest minimum medical outward tourism in Nigeria.

The following are the Visitation Panel's observations:

  1. The Hospital environment was generally quite clean and glamorous.
  2. Basic infrastructure available in very reliable status.
  3. Core and support departments well-staffed.
  4. Core and support equipment in top form - Ten (10) modular theatres available with a
functional cardiac Centre, 10-bedded ICU well-equipped; Model dental centre with
six (6) dental chairs; Radiology Department with two (2) MRIs and two (2)
Computerized Tomographic machines; mammography, fluoroscopy, bone
densitometer, all offered; ultra-sound equipment in virtually all service areas; sixteen
    (16) dialysing Units and more - a Centre to applaud, indeed!
  5. Well-structured training programme with ample opportunities for skill acquisition by
    Residents.
  6. Very reliable access to new information.
  7. Great room for regular feed-back and evaluation (an everyday expectation/job of
    the Founder).

The NPMCN Senate approved that the ABUAD Multisystem Hospital should be awarded Full Accreditation for Five (5) years to train Two (2) Senior Residents and Eight (8) Junior Residents in Family Medicine with effect from 5th October 2021.

Applications are hereby requested from suitably qualified Medical Officers to undertake Resident training in Family Medicine at the 400-bed, 10-Modular Theatre ABUAD Multisystem Hospital.

We are absolutely sure that this fruitful collaboration with the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria will further enhance promotion of postgraduate medical education in the Country.
