College of Medicine gets land allocation

The Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti in Ekiti State has allocated a vast expanse of land within the hospital premises to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).
    Acting Chief Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi Ayodele made the disclosure in Ido-Ekiti when the Founder and President Emeritus of the University, Aare Afe Babalola led a delegation of key functionaries of the Institution to the Centre.
    Dr. Ayodele explained that the land which was meant for developmental purposes is allocated to ABUAD to further boost the cordial relationship between the two institutions in Ekiti State.
    He lauded Aare Afe Babalola for his past support to the Centre and solicited for more assistance as he takes over the mantle of leadership at the Centre.  The Acting CMD later conducted ABUAD delegation round the site.  
Responding Aare Afe Babalola expressed his appreciation to the Management of the Hospital for the kind gesture.  He announced that two modern edifice (an hostel accommodation and a befitting classroom with functional facilities) will soon be erected on the site for the use of Students from ABUADs College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
    The wife of the Founder and Controller General of ABUAD Ventures, Yeye Modupe Babalola who is also a Pastor led the ground – breaking prayers on the land.  While committing the two institutions to the care of the Almighty God, Yeye Babalola was grateful to God for all the laudable achievements recorded by the University since its inception, three years ago.


    It will be recalled that sometimes in 2011, both ABUAD and the FMC Ido-Ekiti signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in health care delivery which enable ABUAD’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences to use the Federal Medical Centre as its Teaching Hospital.  
Earlier at the send-forth ceremony in honour of the outgoing Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. (Mrs) Ololade Olusola Ojo, the Founder, paid special tributes to her for being honest, visionary hardworking and a great Nigerian with outstanding ideas.  He thanked her for her solid support during the accreditation process of his College of Medicine.
    Aare Afe Babalola called on the Federal Government to reward, Dr. (Mrs) Ojo with a National Honour for her meritorious contributions to health care delivery in Nigeria.
    As a mark of honour, the Founder danced with Dr. (Mrs) Ojo, to a cultural ballad –“ the Sokoro Traditional music” from her hometown, Owo, in Ondo State.
    Present at the occasion, were top Management Staff from ABUAD including the wife of the Founder, Yeye Modupe Babalola, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Mrs Taiwo Akanle, reknowned Medical Practitioners, Captains of Industries and Academicians.  
The carnival-like-ceremony also had in attendance traditional rulers from Ekiti State led by its Chairman, Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji JP, CON, the Owa-Ooye of Okemesi-Ekiti.  Others were the Onigogo of Igogo-Ekiti Oba Samuel Adewumi, the Alaaye of Aaye-Ekiti, Oba T. A. Ogunbiyi and the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunji Sam Olusola.
