With a deep sense of loss, we, the entire ABUAD family (the Vice-Chancellor, Senate, Governing Council, Board of Trustees, Management, Staff and Students) mourn the death of one of our revered Fathers, Patriach, elder Statesman, outstanding legal icon and Special friend to our University; Late (Hon) Justice KayodeEsho (rtd). We also commiserate with his family for the irreparable passage of our icon and titan who was a point of reference, a channel of blessing, a trail-blazer and a special gift to mankind before his triumphant entry into the great beyond. Indeed it was a big loss to us all, but we take solace in the efforts of our Founder and President Emeritus, Aare AfeBabalola (SAN) who believed in bestowing honours on whom honour is due while alive. For record purpose, Late (Hon) Justice KayodeEsho was honoured by Aare Afebabalola on 22ndFeburary, 2012 (nine months before his death) at the University campus when Aare named the largest Law Lecture Theatre (a 2,500seater auditorium) at ABUAD, “The KayodeEsho Auditorium”with his photograph hanging majestically on the wall inside the auditorium. While unveiling the plague to commemorate the ceremony, Late Justice KayodeEsho, in glowing words, said, “I have never received this type of honour in my lifetime. Indeed, this is the greatest honour done me by any living mortal. Aare AfeBabalola, as you honour me today, honourwill never cease from your life. Your Star will never dim. Thank you and God will continue to bless you”. From all of us in ABUAD, we will always remember his love and outstanding principles of courage and truth. Though gone to meet his Maker, we express our appreciation to him for bequeathing sterling examples to future generations. We will forever be grateful to him for encouraging our Founder Aare AfeBabalola. We are thankful to God that he came, he saw and he conquered. It is our prayer to the Almighty God, to grant him eternal rest. Adieu Abuad friend! Adieu Papa until we meet to part no more.
