ABUAD Celebrates 2nd Founder’s Day in Grand Style

Former Head of State, General Dr. Yakubu Gowon describes Afe Babalola University as “superlative and impressive”!

 

The 21st day of January has come and gone but the memories of it will continue to linger in the minds of the Founder, Staff, Students, Parents, guardians as well as their well wishers. This was the day ABUAD celebrated its 2nd Founder’s Day. A prominent feature of that event was the Distinguished Personality Lecture titled “Alarming Decline in Education Standard in Nigeria: Reversing it and Moving Forward”, delivered by no mean personality other than the former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, Ph.D.

The Guest Lecturer started his lecture by expressing great delight in being invited to deliver the Second Distinguished Personality Lecture of the University. According to him, part of the reasons for his coming was to “see firsthand the campus that so many people have spoken about so glowingly, not only in terms of the beauty of its physical structures but in the programme of work and studies and the constellation of first class brains that can compete anywhere in the world”.

The Guest Lecturer was highly captivated and enthralled right from his entry into the University Main Gate. The magnificent gate, beautifully designed and well maintained environment together with the dual carriage ceremonial road which are equally adorned with very beautiful flowers ushered his Excellency into the aesthetic structures on the campus. He was immediately welcomed by both staff and students of the University who exhibited the impeccable culture and decorum which is the hallmark of an Ivy-league university.
