RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

  1. Genomic Research and Bioinformatics
We are at the forefront of genomic research, employing cutting-edge thermal cycling technologies and bioinformatics tools to unravel the complexities of nucleic acid information. Our projects focus on understanding toxicogenomic and epigenetic interactions, genetic mutations and variations, gene expression patterns, and their implications for health and disease.
  2. Biomedical Research
Our team explores novel research designs and approaches for the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic targets for a range of diseases. This includes identifying neuroinflammatory markers and therapeutic targets for innovation and development in biopharmaceuticals, regenerative medicine, and personalized medicine.
  3. Microbial Biotechnology
Our microbial biotechnology research focuses on harnessing the power of microbes for various applications, including antibiotic production, enzyme development, and the development of prebiotics and probiotics. We employ molecular techniques to explore various microbial systems for sustainability in health, industry, and the environment.
  4. Plant Biotechnology
Our plant biotechnology research aims to enhance plant traits through genetic engineering, tissue culture, and molecular breeding techniques. We focus on improving crop resistance to diseases, pests, and environmental stressors, as well as enhancing nutritional content.
  5. Environmental Biotechnology
Our environmental biotechnology division addresses critical environmental challenges through bioremediation, waste management, and the development of sustainable bio-based products. We leverage microbial and plant systems to clean up pollutants, advance biofuel production, and promote environmental sustainability.
  6. Collaborative Research Initiatives
Through collaborative research initiatives, we are in active partnership with academic institutions, research centres, industry partners, and government agencies. These collaborations enable us to leverage diverse expertise and resources to tackle complex biotechnological challenges and drive innovation within the university and the nation at large.
