Global Interdisciplinary Research Fellowships, Professorial Research Fellowships, and Visiting Fellowships

These Global Interdisciplinary Fellowships are available to erudite interdisciplinary scholars in different fields in the College of Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Medicine & Health Sciences, College of Social and Management Sciences, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Law, and the University Multi-System Hospital. These Global Interdisciplinary Fellowships are awarded competitively and require no bench fees for successful applicants from Nigeria or abroad. The hosting Colleges will normally award 17 or 30 of these Fellowships at a time. These Fellowships will run between 6 months and 3 years.

Interdisciplinary Senior Research Fellowships and Visiting Research Fellowships in Sciences

Interdisciplinary Senior Visiting Research Fellowships in Sciences

These Fellowships are available to distinguished interdisciplinary scholars in their field in Sciences (Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Medicine & Health, and Social & Management Sciences) with an established international profile. These fellowships are awarded competitively and require no bench fees for successful applicants. The hosting Colleges will normally award 5 or 6 of these Fellowships at a time. These Fellowships will run between 4 weeks and 3 years.

'Visiting' status is normally only offered to research members of faculty at other institutions, either in Nigeria or abroad, including interdisciplinary researchers working in the public or private sectors, or self-employed research consultants.

Interdisciplinary Visiting Research Fellowships in Sciences

These Fellowships are open to all interdisciplinary research scholars who wish to spend time in the hosting Colleges or establish stronger links with its interdisciplinary research members in the field of Sciences (Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Medicine & Health, and Social & Management Sciences). These Fellowships will run for any length of time between 4 weeks and 3 years.

This fellowship is suitable for:

  • Postdoctoral/experienced interdisciplinary scholars who wish to conduct research at Afe Babalola University and participate in our interdisciplinary research culture.
  • Postgraduate research students currently registered for an MSc, MPhil or PhD at universities in Nigeria or abroad.
  • Students who wish to prepare themselves for interdisciplinary PhD research study (please contact us with your proposal).

We are also happy to discuss additional levels of collaboration, including support for the development of external interdisciplinary research fellowship applications, funding of joint PhD studentships for scholars who bring funded fellowships to the hosting Colleges.

Current students should normally have completed one or two years of doctoral study and must have the full support of their home institution. Interdisciplinary Visiting Research Fellows from outside Nigeria are responsible for applying for the correct visa. We can help to organize accommodation for the duration of your stay in the University residences, and can also advise on private sector accommodation.

All proposed visits are subject to the written approval. In accepting Interdisciplinary Visiting Research Fellows, we will consider:

  • Fellows’ ability to fulfil your research or study objectives
  • Fellows’ potential to make a positive contribution to the overall research culture of the hosting College through participation in events and interaction with members of staff and our postgraduate community
  • our capacity to integrate Interdisciplinary Visiting Research Fellows into the University Interdisciplinary research environment.
